Claude: I visited your great gen. page, and the Gingerich's of Canada definitely connect to your Michael the "immigrant". Which reminds me, I have on inter-library loan the S&H Shiplists, but there are NO Gingrich's listed (I also looked under GŸngrich, Kindrich, etc, and could find nothing). Do you have any idea when they came over? Tradition here is that Michael came over in 1747 (see below), but I can find nothing to substantiate that. I'll now send you information on the Gingerich's who connect to Michael. I will later send you the reference number for Daniel's will d. 1803, so you can post it it the "Will" section of the Gingerich page (I really like that idea).
Here is what little I know of the early Gingerich's in Canada.

Re: GINGRICH: Before I begin my query, I have a copy of the bible entries ofthe births of the 15 children of Daniel SCHRAG & Elizabeth GINGRICH, Amish Mennonites of Perth Co., ON. If anyone is interested, I'll send over the transcription. Elizabeth was b. in 1825 on the Atlantic Ocean, so she may be the daughter of Jacob GINGERICH & Veronica LITWILLER, who emigrated to Canada in 1825.
My query:
Jonathan GINGRICH and Joseph GINGRICH of Lancaster (later Adams Co.) signed as witnesses to Daniel STAUFFER's will dated Aug 6, 1796 and proved Oct 1, 1803.
Would anyone know the relationship of the GINGRICHs to the STAUFFERS?
Daniel STAUFFER* b. 1722-1726 d. c 1803 Warwick Twsp, Lancaster Co., PA m.Susannah ? , d. c 1803 Warwick Twsp, Lancaster Co., PA (Susannah was named as executrix of Daniel's will, but was deceased before it was proved in Oct 1, 1803.)
Children (not certain of birth order; listed in order as named in will):
*In 1781, Daniel STAUFFER was was named executor of the will of Philip GLICK (Klick?) of Warwick Twsp., Lancaster Co.
Anything look familiar?
Thanks Deborah

I too am looking for my Gingerich ancestors.
My G.G.G.G.Grandfather was Michael Gingerich, born in what is now Lebanon County, Pa. in 1754. He moved to York County, Pa. in 1785. He died in York County in 1803. I am looking for his parents.
I do have a will for a Peter Gingerich, the elder of Lebanon Twp., Lancaster Co. The will was made in 1786. He lists his children, the eldest son is Michael. In the will he gives Michael 5 pounds hard money, a black mare in addition to his birthright which he already received.
Was the birthright given to Peter's Michael the farm given to my Michael? My Michael moved in 1785, the will was made in 1786. Might be a connection.
Anyone with information about Michael or Peter I would appreciatehearing from you.
I do most of my research at the Lancaster Historical Soc., Lancaster Mennonite Historical Soc., and the Lebanon County Historical Soc. Who are you looking for? Maybe I will find some information that would be useful to any of you.

My name is Stephen Babcock, I am doing research for my wife, Rebecca Cooke, and Her mother Mary Gurtrude Gingrich. A few specific individuals and their respective vital statistics.
Of course there are many other individuals. I basically want to find out more about these individuals lives..their religous affiliations, their ancestory, and other brothers and sisters... I have very few family sheets, just names. John Shellenberger is the only one I am sure came from Switzerland. The others I have no Idea.
We are descendants of David GINGERY Clinton Co.,PA. We know that his father's name was Gingerick. Our great-grandmother was Emma Miriah Gingery. This search is very puzzling. There seems to be no records before the Civil War. Beth Smith and Vicki Staufer.
Hi there, I was searching member profiles and came across yours. My maiden name was GINGERY, I grew up on the West side of Chicago. We are connected to the Gingery's Department store in Garrett, In. My father's name is Robert Gingery, his Father was Donald Gingery, His father was Laird Gingery. Is there any connection? Jody

I received your E-mail regarding Elizabeth Gingery/Gingerich. Most of my Gingerich Family info relates to the branch of the Gingerich family which immigrated to the USA from Germany in the 1830's, although I'm aware several Gingerich's came over during the 1700's. I have several fairly extensive Amish-Mennonite history and genealogy books. John Gingerich.
My father-in-law's mother was Mary Mathilda GINGERICH. Some family members used the spelling GINGERY/GINGRY. They were from the area of Carlisle and Uniontown, PA. She was born 18 April 1881, d/o John GINGERICH and Annie KRAMER Gingerich of Centre Co, PA, near Bellefont. Her siblings were Florence, William H, Gross, Grant, Dorsey, and Leslie. There was at least one set of twins. Jean

Michael and Maria GINGERICH who are buried at the Schneider Burial Grounds, E. Manchester Twp. (near Mundis Mill). Michael was born 1754 and died Feb 1803. Maria was born 6 Sep 1754 and died 1811.
According to Michael's will and estate papers his heirs were Elizabeth, the wife of Michael GOCHENAUER/COCHENOUR; Jacob; Christian; Anna; Mary; Barbara who married Christian MOYER / MEYER 21 Aug 1804 at Christ Lutheran Church, York, Pennsylvania; Mary; Christina; and Catherine who later married Adam HART.
Christian and Barbara MOYER and Michael and Elizabeth GOCHENAUER/COCHENOUR are believed to have moved to Woodbury Twp., BEDFORD Co., Pa. between 1811 and 1814. Need verification of this move to BEDFORD County.

I have almost no information about the Gingery family - other than a strong hunch that they are related to the Gingrich/Kingery family of Lebanon County PA. I have a seen the Lebanon county tax records that show the Gingrich family name and farm taxed as Gingery and Kingery. The family lore is that the English tax collectors operating in PA at the time wrote down what they heard from the German-speaking residents. Kingery was an English name for the King's groundskeepers and was known to the tax collectors - so when they heard the guttural German pronunciation of Gingrich, they wrote down Kingery or Gingery.
I am looking for connections, wills or land deeds for the Gingrich/Kingery/Gingery family - especially Michael Kingery in the 1770's.
I believe he moved to VA and was the father of my ancestor, Samuel Kingrey who was born in Rockingham County, VA in 1788.
If you have any information on the early Gingerich/Gingery/Kingery families, or someone who is familiar with the families in the late 18th century in PA, I would greatly appreciate the information and pass on to you anything I run across on the Gingery family.
Best of luck in your quest

Looking for information on Josiah (Joseph) GINGERY of Haddam, Washington County, Kansas; born 1844 in Ohio, died 1927 in Kansas. Oral history relates that he served in an Illinois regiment during the Civil War, that he may also have lived in Iowa and Missouri prior to living in Kansas. Last wife was thought to have been named Jane; an earlier wife thought to have been named Mary.
