Since my art school days photography became an integral part of my life and creative processes. A camera goes where I go and I rarely do sketches on site. Today I use a simple Fuji Fine Pix A130 Digital and Adobe Photoshop (5.5, yes an old version) to create photoshop images.
When using another photograher's copyrighted image in a photoshop creation I credit their image and provide a link to their website or wikipedia biography so you can see more of their outstanding work.

'Mission by the Sea'

I've used three different photographs for this digital photo collage:

Carmel Mission circa 1884 is the main subject and is a photographic print that I have in my vintage collection. I found the photo framed in a Goodwill Store frame bin and bought it for 99¢ fifteen years ago. Information on the back of the 11x14 inch print indicates it to be a ©Pat Hathaway print from the original glass plate of Carmel Mission 1884. The photographer was C.W.J. Johnson.
Ocean Sunset element is a photo I took on the flight deck of the USS Nimitz (CVN- 68) in the mid Pacific Ocean in 2007.
Jungle Foliage element is from a photo I took on the trail to Waimea Falls, O'hau, Hawai'i.

'Blue Curtain'

In 1972 I took this photo of a second story window of the old Grand Canyon Hotel in Williams, Arizona. which had been abandoned for several years. It has since been completely renovated and is in business today.
I converted the photo to B/W because I wanted attention focused on the curtain waffing in the breeze out the broken window. Coloring the curtain blue gave it more emphasis. It was the movement of that curtain that alerted my attention that day forty years ago. One could wonder perhaps, if anyone was up there in that empty room so I added the Tiger for a surrealistic feeling.

'Under the Monkeypod Tree'

I've used a photo of my original oil painting: Monkeypod Tree as the central subject and used my photo of a still September ocean sunset at Banzai Pipeline, North Shore, O'hau, Hawai'i to plant it on.

Tigers under the Monkeypod Tree

The tiger's under it are nonchalantly watching the elephants amble by......all is peaceful under the great universe of life.
